If your computer died tomorrow, would your photos, documents, and important files be safe?

For many home users and small businesses in Lethbridge, the honest answer is “I’m not sure.”

That’s where I come in.

I’m Tony from Y-Not Tech Services, and I provide friendly, reliable data backup and data transfer services for PC and Mac computers in Lethbridge.

Whether you need a one-time backup, help moving files to a new computer, or a more complete backup plan, I can help you protect what matters. Looking for something else? As your local computer technician, I can also help with all your computer repair needs. Keep in mind that regular PC maintenance and tune-ups help keep your photos, files and documents safe.

What I Can Help You With

  • Setting up a proper backup for your home or business computer
  • Backing up photos, documents, and important files to an external drive
  • Transferring files from an old computer to a new one
  • Moving data from a failing or slow computer before it dies completely
  • Checking that your existing backups are actually working
  • Restoring files from a backup after a crash or malware infection

You don’t have to guess what’s being backed up or hope everything is okay — we can make a clear, simple plan so you know your data is safe.

Local Backup Options

For many Lethbridge home users, a local backup to an external hard drive is a great starting point.

I can:

  • Recommend a suitable external drive
  • Set up automatic backups on your PC or Mac
  • Show you how to confirm backups are actually running
  • Do a test restore so you know it works

Local backups are often the quickest way to recover from hard drive failure or accidental deletion.

Managed Off-Site Backup

For extra protection, especially for important family memories or business data,

I also offer Managed Off-Site Backup solutions.

With managed backup, your critical files are copied securely to the cloud and monitored for you.

Combining a local backup with a managed off-site backup gives you the best of both worlds: fast recovery for everyday issues and strong protection if something more serious happens (fire, theft, flooding, or major hardware failure).

Data Transfer to a New Computer

Buying a new computer is exciting — but moving everything over can be intimidating.

I can transfer:

  • Documents, photos, and personal files
  • Desktop contents and common folders
  • Some application settings (where possible)
  • Email and bookmarks, when supported

I’ll also walk you through where everything ended up so you feel comfortable using your new computer right away.
If needed, I can combine this with a Computer Cleaning & Tune-Up to keep your old computer running better as a backup machine.

Who This Service Is For

  • Home users who have years of photos and documents they don’t want to lose
  • Seniors who want peace of mind that their computer is backed up
  • Small business owners who rely on their computer for invoices, records, and client files
  • Anyone moving from an old, slow computer to a new one

If losing your files would be stressful, it’s worth having a proper backup and transfer plan.

Data Backup & Transfer – Frequently Asked Questions

Can you move everything from my old computer to my new one?

In most cases, I can move your documents, photos, and many settings to your new computer.
Some older programs may need to be reinstalled, but I’ll walk you through your options.

Do you back up my entire computer or just certain folders?

That depends on your needs. We’ll decide together what should be backed up, and I’ll explain in plain language exactly what is and isn’t included.

How often should I back up my files?

For most home users, automatic daily backups are ideal. For businesses, we may recommend more frequent backups depending on how often your data changes.

Do you keep a copy of my files?

No. Once your backup or transfer is complete and confirmed, I don’t keep a copy of your data unless we’ve agreed to a managed backup service.
Your privacy is important to me.

What if my old computer doesn’t turn on?

In some cases, I can still recover files from a failing computer or hard drive.
The sooner we look at it, the better the chances. If recovery isn’t possible, I’ll explain your options clearly.
